《最终幻想13-2》游戏发生在《最终幻想13》结尾，雷霆与众团队拯救了"茧"之后的数年。此刻，哪里都找不到雷霆，大部分都认为她已经死去。不过她的妹妹塞拉不这样认为，她开始踏上了找寻姐姐的旅程。

在本作中将会以地上世界古拉恩·帕尔斯为舞台，从空中都市考库恩降临而来的人们将会在这片神秘的大陆上进行冒险。本作的主人公诺埃尔是一个爽直的青年，他使用两把造型奇特的剑作为武器，并依靠着狩猎魔物维生，之后将会与塞拉相遇，一起去寻找雷霆的踪迹。

此外，《最终幻想13-2》pc版将以60帧运行，可自定义分辨率包括720p和1080p，并支持日英双语音和字幕。
